Michelle Wibowo and her creation: Portrait of Harry Kane in coffee beans

I was commissioned to create a portrait of Harry Kane - an English footballer star to celebrate the launch of "Harry's Flat White" at Starbucks in the UK.

This project also supports the Harry Kane Foundation, with a portion of the proceeds from the drink's sales going towards their mental wellbeing initiatives across England.

Creation Process and Materials

The portrait measures 66 x 86 inches. The creation process, including design, sketching, and placement, took approximately 120 hours.

For the artwork, I used approximately 5 kilograms of expired coffee beans in four different tones. These were used to build the overall structure and shading of the portrait. To create the finer details, I utilized approximately 2 kilograms of disused ground coffee.

The process involved careful selection and placement of each coffee bean and ground particle to achieve the desired effect.

Supporting the Harry Kane Foundation

This project was a unique opportunity to contribute to the Harry Kane Foundation's work in supporting mental wellbeing. I am glad to have been able to use my skills to assist in raising awareness and funds for this important cause.

Harry Kane’s flat white is available to order at Starbucks UK from today until 30 April 2025. For every Harry’s Flat White purchased, Starbucks will donate 25p to the Harry Kane Foundation.
