Michelle Wibowo
Food Artist, Cake Sculptor, Master of Sugar Art
Hello! I'm Michelle,
a British Sugar & Food Artist. I was born in Indonesia in 1978, and after completing my architecture degree there, I decided to pursue my passion for baking at the National Baking School in London.
My background in architecture has really shaped my approach to sugar art, giving me a deep appreciation for detail and a desire to create elegant and refined pieces.
One of the highlights of my career was being selected as one of 100 contemporary artists/crafters worldwide to showcase my work—a life-size realistic baby cake—at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London in 2011.
I also had the amazing experience of competing at the Culinary Olympics in Germany from 2008 to 2016, where I was thrilled to win three gold and two silver medals for my sugar and cake sculptures.
My work has been exhibited internationally, and I love sharing my knowledge through teaching and my cake decorating book.
I also had a wonderful time being part of the "Extreme Cake Makers" team on Channel 4 from 2017 to 2019.
“ From Beyoncé to the BFG, From London Bridge to Taj Mahal,
Michelle has immortalised famous figures and iconic buildings in cakes & incredible food arts. “
